Hello Fellow
Hunters,
Hunting is upon us and we are getting our gear
ready. We hope that you have a great time this year with your
family and friends. Please take time to introduce the youths to
the woods and share with them the wonderful experience that the
outdoors brings.
We hope to see everyone at our Annual Dove
Shoot on opening day (Saturday September 4th) this year. We
always have a blast and it is a great way to start the season.
The birds are looking good and you will not be able to beat the
food. Anyone you bring can become a member of GA SCI for free
with their paid shoot.
GA SCI is proud to sponsor the Pulling for the
Kids Sporting Clays tournament at Blalock Lakes in Newnan, GA on
September 23rd. The tournament will benefit the children of the
Marcus Autism Center. This falls right in line with the
humanitarian mission of GA SCI and will also help more people become
aware of the great work our chapter does in the community. We
hope to see you there.
We are very excited about rolling out our new
website in the following weeks. There will be many additions like
our new blog and classifieds section. You will be able to
interact with fellow hunters and buy/sell your gear.
I am looking forward to a great season and
wish the best of luck to you all.
Keep the crosshairs on the mission
ahead.
Best Regards,
Jim Freeman
President - GA SCI

SafariCare Program-Marjery Parkes Hospital
Greg and Julie Schubert just
came back from Africa and through the GA SCI SafariCare program they
were able to send toys and essentials to the Marjery Parkes TB Hospital
in Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape. Below is a note from the hospital
to Julie.
Dear Julie,
I was at the hospital today to pass on your
wonderful donation. I only wish that you had been there as well
Julie. The excitement and joy in those little faces is difficult
to describe in mere words. There were all so grateful and
thrilled with their toys.
One little boy was a little old for stuffed
toys and when I last saw him, he was proudly clutching one of the
books, a toothbrush and toothpaste with a big grin on his face.
The little girl in pink is Kelly Grootboom who
I was told was "half dead" when she was admitted. This
child is the most darling little girl. She is 6 years old and
absolutely bursting personality. I almost brought her home with
me!!!! She originally took a teddy bear, but when she spotted the
lion, her face lit up and she swapped. He was immediately named
Simba.
So once again, thank you so much for your
generosity. You can be very sure that you have improved the lives
of many impoverished children who are either patients or out patients
at the Marjery Parkes TB Hospital in Graaff-Reinet.
Warm Regards,
Jenny
