A Georgia Chapter

The Georgia Chapter of SCI was founded in February 18, 1981, as a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit association dedicated to wildlife education and conservation, humanitarian efforts, and advocacy of the hunter and hunting.  Each of the founding fathers wanted an organization to promote the mission of the Safari Club International.  With this goal in mind the foundation was laid and brought to fruition by 5  dedicated and forward thinking men:  Rex Baker, Robert J. Reiber, Dr. John E Webb, Joseph P. Sebo, Jr., and Robert W. Cagle.

On March 10, 1981 at the first official Board of Directors meeting the following persons were unanimously elected as the officers of the SCI - A Georgia Chapter:

President Rex Baker
First Vice President Joseph P. Sebo, Jr.
Second Vice President Dr. John E Webb
Secretary Robert J. Reiber
Treasurer Mike Pitts

Today, 24 years later, at the April 16, 2005, Annual Meeting we saw the election of the following officers:

President Bert Collins
President Elect James Lakeman
Vice President Lee Maddox
Vice President Newton Beasley
Vice President Craig Brown
Vice President Rex Baker, Jr.
Secretary Claude McGinnis
Treasurer Margaret Hice

Our Chapter membership is growing. The members are  dedicated to ensuring that the organization's objectives to conserve wildlife and habitat, educate the people and protect the hunter are implemented throughout the world.
