2011 Youth Education Project

GASCI, in cooperation with Dalton Utilities and Ducks Unlimited, chose to sponsor 15 youths in a limited-entry duck hunt for our 2011 Youth Education project. All funds used for this project were raised through our chapter Dove Shoot & BBQ.

Each of the young hunters were required to write an essay in support of their application for this special-opportunity hunt. The winners were accompanied by a guardian, guide and retriever on the January outing. As a group, they harvested a total of 39 ducks from 7 different species. Each hunter was supplied with a two-hour introductory course, camouflage blind, duck & goose calls, hats, gloves and other prizes.

The grand prize was a shotgun donated by the club. Special thanks are due to RFC Eddie Tompkins and CPL Nathaniel "Casey" Jones for all their work to make this such a successful event for these lucky youths. Your SCI, through events like these, is working to secure the future of hunting.
